Rovio has released their first new IP since Angry Birds to with Amazing Alex to Android and iOS marketplaces today. The basic premise of this game is similar to the board game Mouse Trap. You set up a contraption using the available materials to collect each of the stars. It seems to be a pleasant blend of Apparatus, Cut the Rope, and Angry Birds which are all stellar casual games.
The game has been released with 100 levels to start ,though Rovio is definitely known for supporting their games with tons of new content. Players can also create their own levels and share them. Android is sporting an HD version($2.99), Standard Version($.99), and a free version(FREE). By contrast it appears as though iOS has only the HD Version($2.99) and Standard Version($.99).
Amazing Alex is no doubt going to be the talk of smartphone gaming for the next week or so as people gauge it against Rovio's wildly successful birds games. Time will tell if Amazing Alex has the staying power of the platform defining predecessor.
